What inspires me to serve as a pastor at Emmaus Lutheran church? For me, it’s the fervent belief that as a collective, the church has the opportunity to be a physical manifestation of God’s love in the world. It’s such a joy to partner with the good people of Emmaus to extend radical welcome to all who enter our doors!
Though I feel very much like an Oregonian now, I grew up in Texas and did my undergrad in Austin, Texas before heading to Chicago for a PhD in biblical studies. In addition to serving as Pastor at Emmaus, I teach courses in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Oregon. When I’m not pastoring or teaching, I love to get outside into God’s creation, especially to the mountains, where I love climbing in all its forms. I’m married to Pastor Rachel and we have a wonderful pup named Emily. I’m very grateful to live in Eugene.
