I grew up in Eugene as a member of Our Redeemer, although I attended Emmaus for Confirmation classes in middle school. After high school I took a gap year at Holden Village in the Washington Cascades before studying engineering at Valparaiso University. After college I returned to Holden Village for a couple months where I met Katie, my wife. We moved to Portland in 2017 where I worked for Intel (the computer chip manufacturer). Katie began studying for her Master’s in Landscape Architecture at the UO in the fall of 2021 and we moved down to Eugene in January 2022.
I grew up in Fargo, North Dakota, where I learned that winter is not just a season, it’s an experience! After high school, I joined the Army Reserves, moved around a bit from San Antonio to Los Angeles to Scottsdale, back to Fargo, and then to Bismarck, North Dakota. In 1998, my husband Stewart and I made our way to Eugene, where I started working for the City of Eugene as a software developer. I earned my degree in Business Information Systems and have spent over 25 years navigating the City’s IT department.
I joined Emmaus in 2011. I grew up on the Oregon coast and went away to college in Wisconsin where I lived for about 12 years. I moved back to Eugene when I had my first child and have stayed. I have 2 children. I work for Peace Health as a Medical Social Worker for Home Health. I enjoy being active with my kids. Most of my time is taken up with taking kids to their activities.
I was born and raised on a farm in Minnesota and am a lifelong Lutheran. I ended up in the PNW when I married Lon 36 years ago. We have 3 adult daughters and two adorable grandsons. Our family has hosted international students in our home for over 20 years. That led me to working with Chinese students, arranging music & English camps for them at the UO. Most recently I was an EA for special needs middle schoolers, which was challenging but so rewarding!
Now I am newly retired and life seems busier than ever with our UO students, home renovation projects, spoiling the grandchildren and a bit of travel.
In 2023 we found Emmaus and began getting to know members. I now feel called to seek out ways to support our congregation in fellowship. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on council and look forward to many fun times ahead!
Though I’m a relatively newcomer to Emmaus, I’m a native Eugenean and a lifelong Lutheran. My faith journey has brought me to Emmaus where I have found a community of welcoming believers with hearts for service. Our mission is to provide opportunities to facilitate service and give back to the community and be the light of Christ in our world. I’m honored to be apart of this endeavor.
I am a native Oregonian, born in Klamath Falls, and have lived in Lane County since 1976. I became a member of Emmaus in 1995, and have been active ever since, previously serving on council and the Emmaus Foundation board, two previous terms as congregation president, volunteer computer/network support, and member of Elva’s Raiders facility support team. A now-retired Linux systems administrator, me and my wife Deanna live in Eugene where I spend much of my leisure time restoring old cars.
My husband, Jim, and I moved to Eugene from Anchorage, AK in 2023 to be closer to our kids after retiring. From our first visit to Sunday service, we knew that Emmaus was the right fit for our family.
I grew up in Wenatchee, Washington but have lived in Eugene since January 1992. Brad and I have 3 adult children, 2 daughters in law and 2 adorable grandchildren. We attended Emmaus years ago then left for a brief time to join our son and his wife at another church. When we came back to Emmaus in 2023 it was like we never left.
